Voxel based perfusion variability in ASL
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction For the use of arterial spin labeling (ASL) in clinical routine, knowledge on variability of ASL measurements is of great importance. Thus far, ASL variability studies have mainly focussed on intrasession and intracenter and multicenter variability of global perfusion and of perfusion in the flow territories of major brain feeding arteries [1,2]. As a part of the Dutch multicenter reproducibility study [2], we further analyzed variability patterns over different brain regions performing a voxel based analysis of variance (ANOVA).

Estimating the sample size required to detect an arterial spin labelling magnetic resonance imaging perfusion abnormality in voxel-wise group analyses
BACKGROUND Voxel-based analyses are pervasive across the range of neuroimaging techniques. In the case of perfusion imaging using arterial spin labelling (ASL), a low signal-to-noise technique, there is a tradeoff between the contrast-to-noise required to detect a perfusion abnormality and its spatial localisation. In exploratory studies, the use of an a priori region of interest (ROI), which h...
متن کاملCBF/CMRO2 coupling measurements with calibrated BOLD-fMRI: Bias due to voxel selection
O. Leontiev, R. Buxton Radiology, University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA, United States Introduction The coupling of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and the cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen (CMRO2) during brain activation can be characterized by the ratio n of the fractional CBF change to the fractional CMRO2 change. The consistent observation of the BOLD effect supports the conclusion th...
متن کاملMultiphase True-FISP ASL in the Kidney
Introduction: Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) provides a method to non-invasively assess tissue perfusion, and has recently been applied to study the kidney [1]. The importance of ASL methods to study the kidney has been highlighted due to the diagnosis of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF), a side effect of gadolinium based contrast agents [2]. Prior ASL studies of the kidney typically acquire d...
متن کاملVoxel-Wise Perfusion Assessment in Cerebral White Matter with PCASL at 3T; Is It Possible and How Long Does It Take?
PURPOSE To establish whether reliable voxel-wise assessment of perfusion in cerebral white matter (WM) is possible using arterial spin labeling (ASL) at 3T in a cohort of healthy subjects. MATERIALS AND METHODS Pseudo-continuous ASL (PCASL) with background suppression (BS) optimized for WM measurements was performed at 3T in eight healthy male volunteers aged 25-41. Four different labeling sc...
متن کامل0918. Grey matter perfusion is preserved during normotensive hypovolaemia, despite reductions in total cerebral blood flow: evidence of local, pressure independent, intra-cerebral vascular autoregulatory response
Methods Eleven healthy volunteers (20-31 years; 8-male 3-female) underwent MRI studies with a lower body negative pressure (LBNP) chamber. Imaging included quantitative phase contrast angiographic (PCA) measurements of blood volume flow in the carotid and vertebral arteries and ASL of the whole brain. An ASL sequence followed by PCA acquisition was performed at rest (control) and under -20mmHg ...
